Dresden is a city known for its 19th century historic architecture. The dimensions set for the volume to be designed in the competition task are similar to the development of the old town – quarters consisting of tenement houses. Hence the idea of articulating a division into tenement houses in the frontage was born as a nod to the history of Dresden’s architecture.
